Monday Minutes

Good afternoons friends of Care and Share!

There are a lot of exciting things happening at the food bank. Last week, we had six auditors in our building conducting their year-end inventory on various aspects of our work. We are proud to report that we received a perfect score for our USDA programs!

We picked up 36,500 pounds of food from retail store donors throughout El Paso County.

We distributed 15,500 pounds of food through our Mobile Food Pantries, including 6,000 pounds that went to children and their families at school-centered Mobile Food Pantries at Centennial High School and Risley Middle School in Pueblo. These clients received apples, bell peppers, potatoes, watermelon, peanut butter, cereal, and bread.

Despite the fact that we were in the midst of an audit last week, we still distributed 85,000 pounds of food to our partner agencies.

30 volunteers were busy in our gardens, making sure it was weeded, watered, and looking fabulous!

We served thousands of breakfasts, snacks, lunches, and suppers to children through our Summer Food Service Program.

We are grateful for all of our staff and supporters that make this work possible each week. Thank you for reading!
