2017 Summer Mobile Food Pantries Kick Off This Week

Good afternoon friends of Care and Share!

We are busy preparing for our first Summer Mobile Food Pantry of the season, which kick offs tomorrow morning! We will have at least one Mobile Food Pantry serving kids and families every week through the summer months, operating at multiple locations in Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Dove Creek.

The Summer Mobile Food Pantries are designed to reach children and families while they are receiving their free summer meals through the Summer Food Service Program at area schools and community centers. Sending home additional food allows families to stretch their summer food budgets even further.

Each Mobile Food Pantry offers a variety of healthy, nutritious, in-season produce, as well as staple items like snacks, drinks and bread. Every week, the food presented at a Mobile Food Pantry varies. On average, a family leaves with 10-12 pounds of food.

“At Care and Share Food Bank, we believe that no one should go hungry. It’s incredibly important to make sure that families get the proper nutrition they need to thrive, especially during the summer months when children lose access to school meals,” said Lynne Telford, Care and Share’s President and CEO.
