What’s in the Warehouse??

Good morning friends of Care and Share!

Today we have CHERRIES,,,and lots of them! The boxes you see below are filled with cherries from Michigan. These cherries will be distributed through The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).

Brian Clark and Jeff Pyos, our amazing Customer Service and Order Fulfillment Specialists
TEFAP is a Federal programs that helps supplement the diets of low-income individuals and families by providing them with food and nutrition assistance. The United States Department of Agriculture buys the food, including processing and packaging, and ships it to each state.
The State of Colorado provides the food to us, and then we distribute it to soup kitchens and food pantries that directly serve those in need. The amount received by each state depends on its low-income and unemployed population. We currently have 47 TEFAP sites throughout our 31-county service area. 11 of these sites are located in El Paso County, which is home to the most residents in Southern Colorado.

For more information about TEFAP, please contact our Commodities Manager Denise Meredith at 719-434-4683 or denise@careandshare.org

Thanks for reading and happy Wednesday!
