Hello friends of Care and Share, 

We are proud to share this month’s volunteer highlight. Enjoy! 

Christina has always been passionate about  volunteering and has done so for many years. She learned about Care and Share as a volunteer at Food Bank of the Heartland while living in Omaha.  When she told the organization that she was moving back to Colorado Springs, they recommended that she contact Care and Share Food Bank to see how she could help.

She now works at our front desk assisting customers and helping the staff with projects-she is an integral part of our team. Christina says, “Working with the office staff, as well as supporting Lynne Telford, President and CEO, has been a wonderful experience.”  Christina shared that “It’s a great position to see the ‘big picture’ and better understand the scope of what this organization does.”

What Christina likes most about Care and Share is the fantastic food programs that are unmatched in the community.  She said, “The organization’s mission and the support it provides is incredible.  I’m impressed by the accomplishments of Care and Share and what they do on a daily basis.  I’m glad to be part of their team.”

Without Care and Share, Christina surmises that “More people would be going hungry.  We get many calls and inquiries a day asking for assistance and information.  Care and Share is a good community focal point for food programs.  Without Care and Share, many people would not know where to go or who to contact for food assistance.”

While she is only here part-time, and a volunteer at that, helping Care and Share is a high priority for her. She summed up her perspective by saying, “I get a great deal of satisfaction helping Care and Share customers and I’m hoping this passion will pass on to my children.”
