Please enjoy this month’s staff highlight.
My name is Lydia Reyes and I am the USDA Programs Specialist at Care and Share Food Bank. I have been with Care and Share since Oct 2015. I oversee the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, which provides extra food to low-income seniors, age 60 and older. Monthly food distributions are held at participating sites throughout Southern Colorado, currently serving approximately 3,000 seniors.
What I like best about my job is the privilege I have to work with amazing people, not only here at Care and Share, but also with those I have the pleasure of serving within our partner agencies. Together, we’re making a meaningful difference in the lives of so many in our community. No other job I’ve had has been as satisfying and rewarding.
As empty nesters, my beloved husband of 39 years and I get to spend a lot of quality time together. In my spare time, I love to cook from scratch, grind my own wheat to bake bread, and read books by Mary Higgins Clark. I am also a published writer. My devotions and poems have appeared in The Secret Place, The Upper Room, and Chicken Soup for the Soul.
