Good morning friends of Care and Share!

Please enjoy this guest blog by our Garden and Kitchen Coordinator:

Colorado Springs is my home town and I’ve seen it grow and change a lot over the years. When the kids grew up and left home, I had more time to give back, so I looked for ways to get involved. I’ve been with Care and Share since 2009, right after they moved into this amazing building.

I began as a garden volunteer, moved into a staff gardener position, then into the accounting department and now I’m back in the garden and kitchen.

I manage kitchen production, from preparing fresh snacks for the Healthy Kids’ Club during the school year, and hot meals for outside groups using our facility, to creating monthly staff lunches. During the gardening season, I spend more of my time outside in the gardens and greenhouse. We offer educational opportunities for everyone from age 6 and up, to learn how and why gardening is important to a healthy community. To learn more, please visit http://careandshare.org/Programs/Gardens.aspx

The variety of my position(s) here keeps me on my toes, but it is always fun and very rewarding!

Thanks for reading!
