Mobile Food Pantry in Action

Good morning friends of Care and Share!

Monday, we offered some stats about our Mobile Food Pantries in our Monday Minutes post. Today, we would like to share some photos of how it works!

First, we identify a partner in a rural community (or other area that has minimal food resources for those in need) that can serve as a distribution point. Then, we load up our truck with thousands of pounds of perishable and non-perishable food items and head out!

Then, we unload our truck…

Volunteers from the identified site help us to set up and distribute the food. Many of these volunteers are also in need of food.

The food we distribute is healthy, since many of our food insecure neighbors can’t afford to buy food that is nutritionally valuable.

Mobile Food Pantries are one of the most effective tools we have to alleviate hunger for those with minimal access to food resources. We are very proud of this work and appreciate everyone involved in the process, from our generous donors, to our staff, to our partner agencies,  to our volunteers.

Together, we can solve hunger!
