Within Reach Update

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
– Helen Keller

You may have heard that Starbucks, in partnership with Feeding America, is launching the FoodShare donation program to bring more nourishing and ready-to-eat meals to those in need. This partnership was initiated as a result of the outcry of Starbucks employees who advocated for a solution to the large quantity of unsold food that was going to waste. In response, Starbucks has set a goal to rescue 100% of available food from its more than 7,000 U.S. stores and donate this food to local food banks, such as Care and Share.

Additionally, Starbucks is pledging more than $50 million within a five-year span to help the 200 Feeding America network food banks build the infrastructure necessary to support this effort. In the next five years, Starbucks and its strategic partner, Feeding America, will build on this commitment by engaging other companies and organizations to help end hunger.

Care and Share is among the first Feeding America food bank partners to pilot this exciting initiative. In the coming months, we will begin to build the infrastructure necessary to rescue Starbucks food. What a beautiful example of the work that we can accomplish when we work together and across sectors.

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day!
