The first time he volunteered at Care and Share’s Mobile Food Pantry at Peak Vista Health Center in Fountain, Don Smith said he was “impressed by the number of people who came out and needed help, and by the amount of food that was donated.” Don and several of his FedEx coworkers generously spend one Friday morning each month helping Care and Share distribute fresh produce and staple pantry items to our neighbors in need in the Fountain area.
FedEx allows their employees to take time out of the work day to give back to their communities. Last year, Don’s team volunteered for more than 200 hours and helped serve hundreds of families struggling with hunger. “At FedEx we are trying to connect people and possibilities, and this is one of the ways we do it,” Don said. He says starting out his work day once a month by giving back to his community is a rewarding experience. “We take things for granted…[this is] a chance to see things from a different angle.” Don and his coworkers recognize the importance of contributing to a community that helps support their company and the work they do. “I really appreciate Care and Share…and I appreciate FedEx for making it possible to do this.”
