Volunteer Highlight | Joan Bailey

Good morning friends of Care and Share!

“We are making a difference,” said Joan Bailey, a District 11 Mobile Food Pantry volunteer. Joan has been volunteering at the Mark Twain and Mitchell High School Mobile Food Pantries since the beginning of the summer, where people line up an hour in advance to receive healthy food, including fresh produce.

While working side-by-side with Joan, she shared that “volunteering for the Mobile Food Pantry has been an inspiring thing. I love meeting and helping a lot of people.”

With advocates and champions like Joan, we are able to bridge the gap between hunger and abundance in Southern Colorado. The D11 mobile pantries this summer have allowed us to reach nearly 2,000 households, or 8,300 individuals, and to distribute nearly 80,000 pounds of food!
