Summer Food

Good morning friends of Care and Share!

Yesterday, we conducted a Mobile Food Pantry at Mark Twain Elementary School. This service is held in conjunction with their summer meal program. When children come for their snacks and meals, their parents can receive food from the Mobile Food Pantry to supplement their cupboards at home and stretch their grocery budgets. Families receive fresh fruits and vegetables, bread, and pantry staples such as peanut butter and cereal.

Dedicated staff and volunteers work together to make this happen. This is a wonderful example of a community coming together to meet a need.

Summer is a time when many children miss meals because they no longer have access to school food. This also means that their families have higher grocery bills, which makes it hard for those with limited income. If you or someone you know is in need of supplemental food this summer, check out our summer food schedule

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
