Good morning friends of Care and Share!
Did you know that an estimated 64% of the households that we serve have had to choose between paying for food and paying for medicine or medical care at least once in the past year?
Additionally, an estimated 18% of our client households include grandparents who have responsibility for grandchildren who live with them.
We reach seniors in need of additional food resources through our Commodity Supplemental Food Program. This program is designed to fill the gap that often exists between a sufficient diet for these seniors and the money to afford to eat well.
Currently, we provide 2,400 at-risk seniors across Southern Colorado with a box of nutritious staple foods each month, but there are many seniors still in need. Care and Share is looking to increase the number of seniors we reach with this vital program, specifically in El Paso County.
