If you have been keeping up with our first-ever crowd funding campaign, Raise Your Fork, you know that we have raised nearly $4,000 ($3,972) towards our $40,000 goal. $40,000 is what we need to get a much needed new forklift.

In today’s leadership meeting, our Transportation Manager Shane French said that Crown, our oldest forklift, is getting ready to be “put out to pasture.” It has definitely reached the 12,000 hours that are typical of a forklift’s lifespan.

Throughout the campaign, we have tried to demonstrate why forklifts are integral to or work, but the most simple thing to say is that every pound of the more than 19 million pounds of food we distributed last year was moved at least once by a forklift. We absolutely cannot reach those in need throughout our 31-county service without this piece of equipment.

To date, 40 supporters have given generously to our campaign, but more than 1,140 people have visited our campaign page.  Although we still have a long way to go, we know that if enough people rally for our cause, we can make it!  Please consider visiting our campaign page at http://bitly.com/Raise-Your-Fork and giving what you can, even if it’s $10.
