Good afternoon friends of Care and Share!
Did you know that Care and Share has staff members dedicated to Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters™ program? Through six-week courses, Cooking Matters participants learn important skills like smart shopping, meal planning and healthy cooking. Cooking Matters is so important because while 85% of families living on a tight budget see healthy eating as important, only about half are able to prepare nutritious meals most nights of the week.
Peter Medina is our Cooking Matters Coordinator at our Pueblo facility and has truly made a difference in the lives of families in need, which is why he was recently inducted into The Cooking Matters Hall of Fame!
Cooking Matters Hall of Fame honors culinary and nutrition volunteers who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to Cooking Matters by teaching at least 15 six-week cooking courses. Fifty-three volunteers have been inducted into the Hall of Fame since its founding in 2001, including Peter!

Peter’s enthusiasm about his work with Cooking Matters is contagious. He has a knack for engaging even the most introvert participant to get involved in cooking! He makes all participants feel special and that their participation in the class matters. Peter almost instantly connects with participants-hooking them from day 1 so that they want to come back to every class so that they can learn more. Peter is a true asset to Cooking Matters and the Pueblo Community. Great job Peter!
