Monday Minutes

Good morning friends of Care and Share!

Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, “What are you doing for others?”
-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Want to know something amazing?

Last week alone, we benefited from the dedication of more than 200 volunteers, culminating in 515 hours. Volunteers are critical to our ability to distribute more than 19 million pounds of food annually with a small paid staff of 40. Volunteers help us to keep our expenses low and our efficiencies high.

Today is Martin Luther King Day of Service, and we have more than 50 volunteers dedicating their valuable time to us at Care and Share. As we reflect on this powerful holiday and what it means to give back to your community, we can’t help but to be humbled by the generosity of the human spirit. Thank you so much!

If you are thinking about what you are doing for others, think about Care and Share. Volunteers serve in a variety of capacities, from sorting donated food items to making thank you calls to our generous donors. You can volunteer in groups with family members, friends, or colleagues; with your child/children that are six years or older; or individually. We have volunteer opportunities at both of our warehouse locations (in Pueblo and Colorado Springs).
