Mobile Food Pantry
What is a Mobile Food Pantry?
Care and Share Food Bank hosts Mobile Food Pantry distributions in areas across Southern Colorado with limited access to grocery stores and other food resources. Our refrigerated box-trucks deliver hundreds of pounds of fresh produce, staple pantry items, and bread products directly to centrally-located sites in the community to distribute nutritious food to neighbors in a farmers-market style setting. Volunteers and staff help unload, sort, and distribute food to attendees.
We also host special Summer Mobile Food Pantries to make nutritious food accessible to children and their families in the summer when school food is unavailable. We partner with schools and community centers that are already serving meals and snacks through the Summer Food Service Program to host Summer Mobile Food Pantries.
When natural disasters, such as wildfires, devastate communities in our service area, Mobile Food Pantry distributions allow us to make food readily accessible to impacted communities.
