“It’s a Real Blessing.” | Mike and Paula’s Story

Mike and his wife Paula, a Cañon City native, know what a tight-knit community the town is and have experienced firsthand the generosity and kindness of their neighbors at their local food pantry in a local church.

“After you retire, [you receive] less money, so it’s come in handy,” Mike shared with us.

The food pantry is not just a place to get food, but a place where you can catch up with your neighbors. Mike and Paula are able to go through and select the staples that make a huge difference to them like canned goods and noodles, but they also love when they discover desserts on the shelves
— and when they get to chat with their friends.

“With inflation, it’s gotten crazy out there, so this really helps us keep our budget under control,” Mike told us. “It’s a real blessing to have this [food] available.”
