Good morning friends of Care and Share!
Did you know that we work with local farmers to help us get fresh produce to our Southern Colorado neighbors at risk of hunger? In fact, we receive millions of pounds of produce each year from local sources.
We work very closely with Mauro Farms, who plants rows of produce that we specifically request. This partnership provides us with a regular supply of produce during harvest season and greatly helps us to plan our year.
Our farmers provide us with this nutritious food at a very discounted rate, which we not only distribute throughout our service area, but we also split with our sister food banks that serve the Northern portion of our state.
This is the first harvest of this year’s planting from Mauro Farms.
This beautiful corn was just harvested last weekend, so it is very fresh!
We are truly grateful for these partnerships. It takes many dedicated people to make sure that we are getting food to the tables of those at risk of hunger.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!
