Colorado Gives Day Reason to Give #2

There are more than 61,000 children in Southern Colorado that are at risk of hunger. Childhood food insecurity has been shown to inhibit the ability to fight infections and get along with others, increase the likelihood of obesity and chronic health problems, and reduce opportunities for positive educational outcomes. These factors not only directly affect the individual, but increase the likelihood that he/she will continue the cycle of food insecurity for future generations. We provide food through our Children’s Nutrition Initiative, which ensures that children have access to healthy snacks and meals after school, during the weekends, and throughout the summer when school food is not available.
