Celebrating our Founder

Good morning friends of Care and Share!

This week, our President and CEO Lynne Telford is in Minnesota for the Feeding America Network Fall Leadership Conference.

Minnesota happens to be the home of our amazing founder, Franciscan Sister Dominique Pisciotta. You can’t go to Minnesota and not spend time with Sister Dominique! Lynne and Sister Dominique went out to dinner and Lynne spent the night at the convent, Sisters of St. Francis, where Sister Dominique lives.

In 1972, Sister Dominique saw many people in her own community struggling with hunger and decided to do something about it.  Two years later, in October of 1974, Care and Share was officially incorporated.

If you would like to see an interview with Sister Dominique, please take the time to watch this short video that we released last year to commemorate our 40th Anniversary.

Thanks to Sister Dominique, we are celebrating our 41st anniversary this month. We are reaching more people at risk of hunger than ever before and are striving to make Sister Dominique proud!

What a legacy.
