Pueblo: New Care and Share Food Pantry Coming to East Side

We are thrilled to announce that we will be opening a Food Pantry to serve neighbors in need on the east side of Pueblo.

The plan is part of our overall strategic direction, which includes initiating a Pantry Network across our service area where families struggling with hunger don’t have access to nutritious food.

We plan to have the new Food Pantry, which will be called Sunny Side Market | Food for All, up and running by early 2021. More details on the exact location will be announced in the near future.

“Pueblo’s east side is considered a food desert and the community has struggled since their local Safeway closed several years ago.” said Care and Share CEO Lynne Telford. “We’ve been providing nutritious food to the east side community through our Mobile Food Pantries and School Food Pantries but we knew more needed to be done for consistent access to food. We are eager to continue to serve Pueblo and further meet the needs of the community through our new east side Food Pantry, Sunny Side Market.”

In 2018, we began a five-year strategic plan to increase food, improve diet quality, partner to strengthen food security, and increase local passion to end hunger.

Our four pillars Feed, Nourish, Empower, and Unite will continue to lead us well into the future to ultimately create greater access to the food our neighbors need to thrive.
