It’s never too early to get involved at Care and Share! Just ask Hana, a senior at Pine Creek High School.
“My first experience at Care and Share was when I was in 4th grade and I had just moved to Colorado Springs — we were doing Harvest of Love,” Hana told us. “And then I started volunteering my sophomore or junior year.”
Hana participates in Pine Creek Cares, a program set up by one of her classmates through their National Honor Society. Students come together on a regular basis to spend Saturday mornings volunteering at our Colorado Springs Distribution Center.
Her favorite part of volunteering?
“It’s more tangible,” said Hana. “Being here in the distribution center, surrounded by all the food, it feels like we’re actually doing something.”
But for Hana, and so many of us, it’s more than just packing and weighing food. It’s knowing you’re helping members of our community.
“Even if you never meet the people that you’re helping, there’s that feeling in your heart that someone’s getting something out of this.
