Care and Share is proud to be teaming up with Colorado Springs police and Pueblo police as part of an initiative to help get food to people experiencing hunger.
Through our “First Responders Emergency Food Bag” program, law enforcement officers will have direct, on-site access to bags filled with shelf-stable goods at each one of their regional locations to give to individuals and families they identify as food insecure during their day-to-day interactions.
“We are honored to continue to serve our community members by providing for those who are food insecure. Our officers serve because they want to help others and this new partnership allows us to provide immediate help to those individuals and families they contact, in a whole new way. CSPD is proud to partner with Care and Share Food Bank to help fight hunger and get families connected with the services they need,” stated Chief Adrian Vasquez of the Colorado Springs Police Department.
“As a proud member of the Rotary Club of Pueblo and Chief of the Pueblo Police Department, I am proud to partner with Care and Share Food Bank to give our officers nutritious resources they can provide on short notice to help those in our community in need,” said Chief Chris Noeller of the Pueblo Police Department. “This is teamwork and problem solving at a new level and we’re proud to be involved.”
Last year, Care and Share launched a partnership with UCHealth and Ute Pass Regional Health Service District. Paramedics have access to emergency food bags they can hand out to patients who may be living off the grid or lack access to needed food resources.
“We are so excited to partner with our local law enforcement agencies and first responders to assist them, even in a small way, to better serve our communities,” said Nate Springer, Care and Share Food Bank President and CEO. “We look forward to expanding these programs across Southern Colorado.”
We want to extend a huge thank you to Schmidt Construction Company and the Rotary Club of Pueblo for stepping up to provide funding for the emergency food bags going to local law enforcement.
