Every month we like to introduce one of the many fabulous employees who help Care and Share fulfill its mission.
“My name is Tricia Thomas, and I am the Food Procurement Coordinator for Care and Share Food Bank For Southern Colorado. I have worked for Care and Share since January 2020. I had always wanted to be in the nonprofit sector and hunger was always my number one social cause.
I was born in Washington, D.C and raised in Gaithersburg, Maryland. After graduating from college with a degree in Political Science, I worked at a number of different companies and stayed home with my now 26-year-old for a few years. I could never seem to get my foot in the door in non-profit, so I volunteered at soup kitchens, food pantries, etc.
In January of 2017, my husband and I moved to Colorado Springs. I started working as an insurance adjuster and it just was not my calling, so I applied at Care and Share and got the job. I am responsible for our Retail Donation Program, and I field many of our food donation calls and set up the logistics for those donations. I love the work and the mission, and I am always looking to cultivate new donors and keep our existing donors happy.
In my spare time, I love to read, explore, and learn. My husband and I enjoy traveling, and now that we are in Colorado, we have started getting back into camping. I am grateful every day that I work for Care and Share, and I am helping make a difference in southern Colorado.”
