Good morning friends of Care and Share!
Please enjoy a guest blog post from Meredith Jones of Kaiser Permanente in Southern Colorado.
For the ninth year in a row, Kaiser Permanente Colorado employees and physicians threw on their patented green shirts, laced up their shoes, and ventured out into the community to make a difference. More than 400 Kaiser Permanente Colorado physicians and staff volunteered on Martin Luther King Day at more than 30 non-profit organizations along the Front Range.
One such project took place at the Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado, where I and more than 20 other Kaiser Permanente volunteers joined together with various other organizations to help process, sort, and pack incoming food donations. I’m fortunate to work at a nonprofit organization that’s committed to improving the health of our members and the communities we serve.
It’s a good feeling to know the time we spent at Care and Share Food Bank will help people and families in Southern Colorado. We had a great day at the food bank, made new friends and laughed. Care and Share has an easy to understand mission- no one should ever go hungry. So, I find myself thinking about this as I sit down to meals now and how easy it is to help others. Aside from volunteering your time, think about what you have around the house that you can donate to Care and Share or your local food bank. Remember, nobody can do everything, but everybody can do something.
