WHAT IS COOKING MATTERS?
Cooking Matters teaches families to shop for and cook healthy meals on a limited budget! Our team at Care and Share collaborates with community organizations that serve families with limited incomes such as schools, recreation centers, and food pantries to bring hands-on cooking and nutrition classes to their community.
Our classes are free, participatory, and each session, participants get to taste test nutritious recipes!
COOKING MATTERS PROGRAM OPTIONS
8 topics to select from for single ‘one-off’ classes or to create a tailored course.
6-week culinary and nutrition courses with hands-on cooking. (meeting weekly)
Grocery store tours (or pantry tours) to teach shopping for healthy food on a budget.
BRING COOKING MATTERS TO YOUR ORGANIZATION
Interested in bringing Cooking Matters to your pantry? We do not need a commercial kitchen; we just need to have a sink with hot running water and 15 interested participants. We come to you and take care of all the rest!
For questions, or to request a course, please email Jessie@careandshare.org or fill our Partner Interest Form.
TAKE NOTE
We usually schedule classes 3 months in advance. Right now, we are scheduling for late spring. The Care and Share team works in EL Paso, Pueblo, and Fremont counties, but there are other coordinators across the state that we will do our best to connect you with. If there is no Cooking Matters coordinator in your county, we can sometimes teach classes virtually, or teach your staff to facilitate classes.
