Every month we like to introduce one of the many fabulous employees who help Care and Share fulfill its mission.
This month we are featuring our Marketing Coordinator, Hannah Schlueter.
Hannah considers herself to be from both Washington State and Iowa, having grown up in the Seattle area and lived in Iowa for most of her adult life. With friends and family in Colorado, she was so excited to move out to Colorado Springs this past spring which, to her, feels like a perfect mix of both the Pacific Northwest and the Midwest.
Hannah has a background in food insecurity and rural development. Her academic and professional career has taken her around the world — from the UK, to Uganda, and all over the United States. Through these experiences, Hannah realized food insecurity is both a global and domestic issue and she started focusing on improving food access and insecurity in local communities. She also realized she had a knack for storytelling and writing, making this position a fantastic blend of her past experiences. “My favorite part of my job is getting out into the communities we serve and chatting with our neighbors and partners. I am honored to share their stories,” Hannah said.
Outside of work, you can usually find Hannah spending time with friends, going on hikes with her dog — a lab mix named Scout — or curling up with a good book (particularly historical fiction). Some of her recent favorites include The Pull of the Stars by Emma Donahue and Rules of Civility by Amor Towles, if anyone else is looking for a good read!
Hannah is typically the one behind our social media and newsletters and is always looking for more stories to tell. If you’re interested in collaborating, reach out to her at hannah@careandshare.org.
