With Gratitude

Good morning friends of Care and Share!

Working in the non-profit sector can be a very difficult job. We face hurdles that many other businesses aren’t confronted with: we are reliant on the generosity of our donors, grant makers, volunteers, and advocates. Oftentimes, we work within tight financial constraints and must keep our overhead costs extremely low to ensure that we are good stewards of donor dollars.

We work with challenging populations and against all odds to make the world a better place. We see a disparity, or an injustice, or someone that has fallen on hard times and needs a hand up, but we also see the potential for a brighter future. We pour our hearts and souls into our work because we know that we can make a difference.

During the holiday season, we kick into overdrive to help our neighbors in need enjoy a hot meal, have a nice present to open, and warm clothes to wear. Ultimately, we work countless hours to put ourselves out of business.

So last Friday, when we received a generous gift from an anonymous donor, as well as gift cards for all of our employees, we were left speechless. We shed tears of gratitude and joy, and felt recharged by this totally unexpected act of kindness. In times that can feel uncertain, unstable, and even a bit scary, we are reminded that there are amazing, caring people standing by our side, cheering us on… believing in us.

We are so grateful to this anonymous donor. We really cannot put into words how much your gift means to us and how touched we are by your thoughtfulness. From all of the staff at Care and Share, our families, and those we serve, thank you, thank you, thank you!
