Story Type: Volunteers
Sandy Semon became a loyal donor of ours after she heard about Care and Share Food Bank more than a decade ago. After departing from her full-time job, she acquired more free-time, and decided to lend her skills to our mission. “I wanted to volunteer at a place where I could be useful,” she said. Since then, Sandy has dedicated hundreds of volunteer hours to helping with administrative work across different departments. She helps us to meet the food needs of our community by working closely with our USDA Programs Specialist entering information into the database, verifying materials, and sorting and filing paper work for CSFP- the Commodities Supplemental Food Program.
When she has extra time, she helps in the distribution center, pulling food orders for our partners, or sorting and compacting recyclable materials. Sandy says she likes that Care and Share has a wide variety of things she can help with, and that she can contribute to hunger-relief by giving her time.
