How We Helped: Nutritious Food
A Care and Share partner since 2019, My Neighbor’s Cupboard is a critical ally in the fight against hunger in Southern Colorado. Their mission is to create a new way for their community to gather and grow together, while using a unique way to provide needed food resources to our neighbors.
My Neighbor’s Cupboard, recognized as one of Care and Share’s Community Champions, was formed in 2018.They provide a variety of fresh, frozen, and shelf-stable produce and quality foods from their space, which has the look and feel of a hometown market. Neighbors are welcomed and encouraged to shop for what they need and like. Their entire team is comprised of dedicated volunteers who are motivated by giving, sharing, and helping their community. Last year, they distributed 515,977 pounds of food to our neighbors in need.
During the government shutdown, My Neighbor’s Cupboard hosted special distributions for families affected. On a regular basis, they distribute food on weekdays and Saturdays to make sure working families can come to at least one of their distributions.
My Neighbor’s Cupboard also elevates their community by hosting a monthly Fremont Roundtable with the other food access agencies, to help support the Fremont County neighbors. They started identifying the gaps in Fremont County and building relationships with the community leaders within those gaps. We are grateful for the team at My Neighbor’s Cupboard and their commitment to working together to ensure everyone has the food they need to thrive.
