Chris Cooper

From Colorado Springs, CO

Story Type: Volunteers

Chris Cooper has been a Peer Coordinator at Care and Share since March of 2018. As a peer coordinator, he shows new groups of volunteers the ropes around the food bank. “I love meeting new people every shift and trying to encourage them to come back.” Every week, Chris helps our repack room coordinators pack dry goods to distribute to our neighbors experiencing hunger.

Care and Share’s mission of hunger-relief is especially close to home for Chris and his family. His family lost part of their land during the Black Forest Fire in 2013. He remembers the tremendous help they received from Care and Share, as well as many other organizations. In return, he decided he wanted to give his time and resources to the community that helped him when he and his family were in need. He tells us, “I am just one piece of the puzzle…We need the entire group of pieces to make the puzzle work and I am glad I am just one piece.”
