Staff Highlight | Lauren Erdman

Good morning friends of Care and Share!

We haven’t done a staff highlight in quite some time, so we decided to bring this component of our blog back!

First up, we have Lauren Erdman, our Agency and Programs Outreach Coordinator. You may remember when Lauren was hired just more than year ago. It was kind of a big deal.
Lauren works to find new partnerships and establish new programs in the communities we serve so Care and Share can get more food to more people in more places. She also works with current partners to expand their capacity to reach more people in need.
Before she began working at Care and Share, she was an AmeriCorps VISTA at a food bank in Alabama. AmeriCorps is like a domestic Peace Corps, so Lauren was helping her food bank to build the sustainability of volunteer and outreach programs.

Lauren said, “I love working with Care and Share because my role lets me interact not only with everyone on staff in every department, but also all of the people we serve and partner with in Southern Colorado. I get to meet new people and accomplish different goals every day.”

FUN TIDBIT SECTION!
Lauren’s favorite holiday “is a toss up between Christmas and birthdays. Christmas is so magical and beautiful with the snow, but my mom makes birthday celebrations extra special. They start on the first day of your birth month and end on your actual birthday. My brother’s birthday is on the 4th day of his birth month so he gets 4 days of celebrating, but my birthday is on the 31st…so I have 31 days! I am also one of those annoying people who put up Christmas decorations on Thanksgiving. I like to bake cookies, watch “Elf”, and sing Christmas carols…despite the fact that I really can’t sing.”

Lauren interned at Disney World in Orlando for a semester in college. She and her fellow interns worked, lived, and played on Disney property. She got to meet and work with other college students from all over the world, and when they weren’t working, they got to go into the Disney parks for free!

Thanks for reading and tune in next month for another staff highlight!
