Each Monday morning, our Leadership Team gets together for a quick meeting to update each other about things that happened during the previous week. Our Monday Minutes posts share updates from our Agency Relations, Operations, Development, and Programs departments. Today is an update from our Programs team.
The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) provides food assistance to people in need through the distribution of U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) commodities. The food is distributed free of charge on a monthly basis to recipients. We currently have 47 TEFAP sites and last week alone, we distributed 64,519 pounds of food through this program.
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) is a USDA supplemental food program focused on low-income senior citizens age 60 and over. Eligible participants receive a monthly food package that is intended to supplement the diets of this vulnerable population. We currently have 27 CSFP sites and are working to implement three more in the coming month. Last week, we distributed 11,040 pounds of food through this program.
