Good afternoon friends of Care and Share!
Yesterday’s County Highlight featured a college student from Pueblo Community College that visited the Panther Student Pantry. More about LaMicka’s story will be shared on Thursday.
With rising tuition rates, many college students struggle with food insecurity and are forced to choose between paying for one necessity or another. Feeding America found in a 2014 report that one in 10 hungry adults seeking emergency food assistance is a student—two million of whom are studying full-time. The food pantries that we have established at Pueblo Community College and CSU Pueblo are so important to reaching students in need and ensuring that they can continue their education for a brighter future for themselves and their own families.
Students that visit these pantries receive food and other essential items, such as toiletries. Students, faculty, and Care and Share work together to make sure the pantries are stocked.

We are very proud to serve these students as they work to achieve their educational goals.
