Many donors prefer to donate securities, since the amount they can claim as a charitable gift for federal income tax purposes is the securities' fair market value on the date of the gift, if the securities have been held over 12 months [See IRS Code section 170(b)(1)(A)].

Ninety-five cents of every dollar donated to Care and Share Food Bank goes directly towards our mission of bridging the gap between hunger and abundance in southern Colorado and each $1 donated will procure up to ten pounds of food - about seven meals - for a hungry person.
